Equine Crisis Intervention...

Started in '05...New England Equine Rescues (NEER) is a growing 501(c)3 non profit organization that networks horse people all over the New England region. NEER is dedicated to helping all horses (we especially love the old and unwanted) in any way, including direct intervention for abused or slaughter-bound equines, effective horse placement, fundraising, and active support of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. NEER needs good homes, foster homes, volunteers, transport, advice, referrals, and as much support as we can to help stop the abuse, neglect, and slaughter of horses. We are a large NETWORK of people ranging from an extra stall to larger non profit organizations. We welcome all horse people, location is not important. The more people, the better the network. NEER is 100% volunteer...nobody is paid.

NEER was originally formed to answer a need within the equine community to network hard to place horses that were not able to find sanctuary in over crowded rescue organizations in New England. As an organization, the mission has expanded. Today, NEER actively rescues horses from a variety of situations, including owner surrenders, abuse and neglect situations, and horses at risk for slaughter. NEER provides sanctuary and rehabilitation in foster homes with the intention of adoption into new families as appropriate. NEER works closely with, and for, other traditional equine rescue organizations, assisting with fundraising efforts and equipment donations. NEER is a member of the Horse Rescue Coalition, Homes for Horses Coalition, among other horse welfare organizations. NEER remains an all volunteer organization relying 100% on donations from members; the community; and fundraising achievements to provide for the welfare of equines in need throughout New England. In 2008 alone, NEER provided assistance for over 50 horses in need. No one at NEER receives a paycheck for their hard work; it is all done from the heart for the horses. Your generous support will help NEER continue their work and to support the horses that are in their care awaiting new homes. Please consider sending a tax deductable donation today. Every dollar is greatly appreciated.

  • NEER does not sell ANY horses.
  • NEER does not condone the breeding of rescues.
  • NEER has NO paid members.
  • NEER tries to do what's best for the horses, not the people.
